Our Spring Term Journey

EYFS

Spring One

This term in Early Years PE we are learning all about ball skills. Over the course of this half term we will be learning to increase control over an object in pushing, patting, throwing, catching and kicking. We will be also developing control and coordination of balls.

KS1

Spring One

In Year 1 PE this half term we are learning all about Gymnastics. Over the course of this half term we will be learning to develop the ability to jump in a range of ways from one space to another. To control our body when jumping and balancing. To create a sequence using a jump and a balance. We will also be developing the ability to roll in a range of ways and finally to perform a sequence with confidence and control. 

In Year 2 PE this half term we are learning all about Net and Wall games. Players/teams score by hitting an object into a court space in such a way that the opposing player/team cannot hit it back within the allowed amount of bounces. Tactical problems related to net and wall games include setting up an attack, creating space on offence, reducing space on defence, etc. Examples of net and wall games include tennis, volleyball, squash and badminton.

LKS2

Spring One

In LKS2 PE this half term we are learning about Gymnastics. We will learn about pike jumps, straight jump half-turns, cat leaps, forward rolls from standing, tucked backward rolls and chassis steps whilst developing our understanding of the necessary flexibility, strength and control needed to perform the movements successfully. We will also have the opportunity to choreograph our own sequences and routines, performing individually and with a partner.  

UKS2

Spring One

In UKS2 PE this half term we are learning all about Gymnastics. In gymnastics we will be looking at how to perform a variety of floor movements. The children will learn a number of gymnastics moves which include stag leaps, dive forward rolls, hurdle steps into cartwheels and round-offs. The children will have the opportunity to choreograph their own sequences and routines and perform individually and as part of a larger group.
