Riddlesden St Mary

Collective Worship

At our school we have an act of worship every day. We meet together to learn, sing, reflect or pray and explore the school values, which are Christian values, shared by other world faiths.

On Mondays, we have a celebration! During this collective worship, we reflect on the previous week, celebrate the achievements of children and staff and recognise how we all belong and contribute to the life of the St Mary's School family.

On Tuesdays, we explore the value of the half term through the eyes of different world faiths, listening to and exploring stories, reflecting on them and recognising how we can learn from them.

On Wednesdaysthe children from different classes take it in turn to lead our worship. Sometimes an individual child will lead. At other times, a small group will lead us and occasionally the whole class might be involved.

On Thursdays, we have Christian visitors who come to lead our worship. Sometimes the visitors are clergy from our link church, St Mary's ( www.riddlesden.wordpress.com ). Other times we have visitors from Zephaniah Trust  ( www.zephaniah.org.uk )with story tellers and musicians who help us to explore stories from the Bible.

On Fridayswe meet in our classes and explore news stories through Picture News www.picture-news.co.uk/ ). Our class reflections from this collective worship become a display in our school hall so that we share what we have been thinking about.
