Pumpkin Exploration
Reception have been exploring pumpkins! We have learnt about how and where they grow, looked at different sized pumpkins and investigated their insides. We found out that they are not just for decoration but are delicious to eat! We baked a yummy pumpkin cake!
During this time, we have been finding out more about the season of Autumn and what we might see, hear, smell and taste at this time of the year. We have lots of resources in our classroom to help spark our curiosity about this season.
The Leaf Thief
Inspired by the story The Leaf Thief, we have been exploring the wonderful world of woodland animals! We discovered which animals might live in our woodlands, including squirrels, birds, hedgehogs, foxes, badgers and rabbits. We investigated where they make their homes and the different materials they use to build a safe, cosy place to live. We even had a go at building a nest for a squirrel and learnt that its home is called a drey!
Along the way, we have been developing our woodland vocabulary, sharing our ideas, asking questions and thinking carefully about how animals adapt to their surroundings.
I am an Artist
We have been finding out what an artist is and how we can be artists too. We used the work of artist Kandinsky to inspire us.
Hedgehog visit
Our Reception children have been exploring the wonderful world of woodland animals, discovering where they live, how they build their homes and what they like to eat.
Jan taught us all about her important work rescuing hedgehogs in need and shared how we can help protect them too.Forest Adventure

We have been finding out all about the numerals 4 and 5.
We've also been exploring shapes with 4 sides.
RE - Why Do Christians Perform a Nativity at Christmas?
We have been exploring this question through books and props, as well as acting out 'The Nativity' and preparing to perform it to our adults.
