Our Summer 2 Journey
Our Focus this Term
Our Focus for Summer 2 has been on supporting children through transitions, exploring feelings and emotions, and celebrating the season of summer. Through a range of play-based activities, stories, songs, and discussions, children have been encouraged to recognise and express tehri feelings, develop confidence in new situations, and build positive relationships with other. We have also explored the changed that summer brings, including warmer weather, outdoor experiences, nature, and seasonal events. These experiences have helped children develop their communication skills, emotional wellbeing, and understanding of the world while fostering a sense of security and belonging as the prepare for new experiences and transitions ahead.
Our Focus Texts - Maisy goes to Nursery and Pass the Jam Jim
Our key texts this half term were Maisy Goes to Nursery and Pass the Jam Jim. These stories supported our learning around transitions, feelings, and preparing for special events.

Maisy Goes to Nursery provided valuable opportunities to discuss change, new experiences, and the emotions children may feel when moving into a new environment. Through sharing the story, children explore feelings such as excitement, nervousness, and happiness, helping them to develop emotional awareness and confidence as they prepare for upcoming transitions.

Pass the Jam Jim linked beautifully to our preparations for our end-of-year celebration. The story encouraged conversations about working together, sharing, and getting ready for a special occasions.
Gardening with Joel
We had a wonderful time gardening with Joel! He taught us about what plants need to survive, including sunlight, water, air, and a healthy soil. We learned how important is is to take care of plants so they can grow strong and healthy.
Together, we planted sunflowers, marigolds, cucumbers, and pumpkins. Joel showed us how to carefully plant the seeds and explained how each plant grows. The children were excited to get their hands dirty and learn about gardening.
One of the highlights of the session was planting our own plants. Everyone had the opportunity to plant and care for their own seed, making the experience fun and memorable. We are looking forward to watching our plants grown over the coming weeks.
Take a look at some of our Tadpoles doing an amazing job at gardening!

Fine Motor Development
To support the development of our fine motor skills, the children took part in a cutting activity to create a sunshine picture. Using scissors independently, they carefully cut strips of yellow card to make the suns rays.
This activity encouraged the children to develop their hand strength, coordination, and control while practising safe scissor skills. They showed great concentration and perseverance as they worked to cut the card and assemble their sunshine!

Fun with the Parachute
The children had lots of fun taking part in parachute games and activities. Working together, they held the parachute and moved it up and down to create waves, making balls bounce and float through the air.

Say "Cheese!"
Elleah made a magnificent camera using the stickle bricks. She went around the classroom asking her friends to make a pose!
Great work Elleah!
