Educational visit to Cliffe Castle
Year 3 were excited to visit Cliffe Castle where they became geologists and palaeontologists for the day! During the trip, the children explored rocks, fossils, and learned about the history of our planet. They investigated different types of rocks, discovered how fossils are formed, and took part in fun hands-on activities that helped them understand what life was like millions of years ago. It was a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn outside the classroom and developed their scientific and geographic curiosity.

Educational visit to a Mosque
Year 3 visited a local mosque as part of our learning about different religions and cultures. The visit took place during the holy month of Ramadan, giving the children a special opportunity to learn about how Muslims practice their faith at this important time. During the visit, pupils explored the mosque, learnt about daily prayers, and heard about the significance of Ramadan, including fasting, kindness, and community. This experience helped develop the children’s understanding, respect, and appreciation of different beliefs and traditions.
STEM week - Science
Our curiosity question was: How do boats float?
We examined numerous types of boats and their purposes. Using our scientific skills we designed and created a boat to float in water. We ensured it was a fair test and had the opportunity to reflect and improve our design.
Enrichment
We loved making Coconut Macaroons! First, we mixed coconut, sugar, and egg whites together in a bowl. It was sticky and fun to stir! Then we shaped the mixture into small balls and placed them on a baking tray. After that, we baked them in the oven until they turned golden brown. When they cooled down, we tasted them—they were sweet, chewy, and delicious!
Art
Year 3 have been exploring the vibrant and expressive style of Pakistani truck art, inspired by the work of Haider Ali. They learned how this unique art form uses bold colours, intricate patterns, and meaningful symbols to tell stories and celebrate culture. Using these ideas, the children designed and created their own truck art pieces on rocks, carefully adding decorative details, patterns, and bright colour combinations. Their work shows creativity, patience, and an understanding of how art can communicate identity and tradition.
