Our Summer 2 Learning Journey

Below you will find our Summer 2 curriculum overview as well as '10 Things to do at home.'

World Oceans day 2026

Monday 8th June is 'World Oceans day' ! We thought we would dedicate a week to discover more about the Oceans and why we need to help to protect them!

We have been reading 'Somebody Swallowed Stanley' to support us with our learning on oceans.

Take a look at our amazing work!

Growing week

As part of growing week, we read the story 'The Tiny Seed'.

We wrote instructions on how to plant a seed.

I wonder what my seed will turn into?

We enjoyed learning about the different parts of a plant.

Maths!

We have been using part whole models to help consolidate our learning of number bonds to 10.

Fun in the sun

We have enjoyed keeping cool and exploring the grass area part of our playground. We especially loved the tyre swing and using our balancing skills when walking across the tyres.

Planting with Joel

We were delighted to see the pea seeds we had planted grew into healthy plants with delicious pea pods. We carefully looked after the plants, watering them and watching them change over time, learning about what plants need to grow. Our highlight was harvesting the pea pods and tasting the fresh peas we had grown ourselves.

Poetry Day 2026

To celebrate Poetry Day, we had a visitor from a real life Poet. Back in class, we explored a poem all about a magic telescope.  As a class, we created our own poem about what we could see through our 'magic telescope'.

Through my magic telescope....I can see a purple mermaid"

Through my magic telescope...I can see a pirate ship with a flag"

Through my magic telescope....I can see a sparkling moon"
