Maths

In Maths,  children will learn how to work out the area and perimeter of a shape. Then, we will learn about Roman numerals and how to read these. Finally, we will consolidate our place value, addition and subtraction learning.

Times tables are still a real focus this half term, and children will be doing times tables sessions 3 times a week based on the 9 times tables. Please support your child to embed their learning by encouraging them to practise at home! TTRS is a great way to do this.

Hit the button is a good website to keep practising your times tables too, as well as the Multiplication Check:

English

In English this half term all of our learning will be based around the text ‘Beowulf’ which links to our History topics of the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings.

The children will work their way up to writing a character description of a monster using lots of skills they have learnt throughout the year.

If you would like to share this story at home, here is the video:

History

Our history topic is Anglo-Saxons this half term which will continue into learning about Vikings next half term. We will be taking part in an exciting hook day where we become villagers who are invaded by the Anglo-Saxons.

Throughout the unit we will explore how the Anglo-Saxons have shaped Britain.

RE

In RE, we will be studying Christianity, focusing on the key question, 'When Jesus left what was the impact of Pentecost’?'.
