Riddlesden St Mary

2 Year Old Provision Update

On the 24th July 2018, the Governing Body met with a representative from the Local Authority to discuss the consultation period and make a decision whether to go ahead with 2 year old provision from September 2018.

The consultation was open between 18th June 2018 and 20th July 2018. There were 50 responses in total.

The majority of responses supported the proposal. 38 agreed with the proposed changes. They feel that St Mary's is a good school and offering 2 year old provision will benefit children greatly by giving them the opportunity to develop many skills, allowing the transition into Nursery to run smoothly.

There were 8 responses against the proposal. The main concern was the impact this would have on the school budget and whether the other children would be adversely affected. The funding to set up 2 year old provision has been supported by the LA. The school receives funding for 2 year old's from a separate allocated source. Therefore, this will not have a detrimental impact on the other children.

The Governing Body took all responses into account and unanimously decided to go ahead with the proposal to lower the age range at Riddlesden St Mary's to now offer 2 year old provision.

As a school, we are now working hard to get everything ready to be able to open our 2 year old provision from the 24th September 2018. We will offer both morning and afternoon sessions. There will be funded places for those who are eligible and we are able to offer charged sessions too. If you would like more information, please contact the school office on 01535 210002. Please note, school is open on Tuesday 4th September 2018.
